Growing for God, Building to serve, Creating new memories

Capital Campaign Update

Delivered at the worship service on October 25, 2009

It is 4 weeks after Commitment Sunday and here's what we know: We estimate that we have received about 80% of the number of pledges that we expect to eventually receive from members based upon the experience of Kirby-Smith. This is the number of pledges and not the dollar amount.

At $700,000 pledged thus far, we continue to work towards our goal. The number increases every week AND we have much of which to be proud. Based upon a comparison of annual giving and money pledged, this congregation has pledged more money than do 95% of churches. That is, we have already pledged 2.7 times our annual giving — this is really quite outstanding.

We still have much to do. We have administrative work, but work related specifically to raising additional funds is as follows:

  • • We will mail letters this week to those who have yet to submit a pledge, and follow up with a friendly reminder phone call.
  • • We need to continue to generate and coordinate meaningful fundraising activities, such as the concerts.
  • • We need to follow up with organizations & churches who have offered a helping hand or who we think do so.
  • • And, we need to follow up with Friends of Zwingli, individuals who were married here, or have moved, etc.
All this effort requires your help. We are looking for volunteers, leaders and individual contributors. Please contact the office if you can help. Lastly, please keep positive and prayerful over these matters.

Thank you,
Dan Graham
